We landed in Oklahoma City and did a quick visit. We were able to get a bike ride in and see the new Top Gun movie at the Brickyard an upscale shopping and dining area in downtown. It reminded us of the riverwalk areas in other downtowns we have visited.

Choctaw to Jones Oklahoma Bike Ride. We left from the campground and meandered through the farming and cattle countryside. Quiet roadways were our treat.

We traveled to Amarillo, Texas next. Our goal was to hike in the Palo Duro Canyon area. We did a great 5.5 mile hike and thought we started early enough to beat the heat. Was not the case! The temps in the canyon raise quickly as we found out.

Another famous tourist attraction in Amarillo off I40 is Cadillac Ranch. Spray painting graffiti on old Cadillacs is not something to rush and do! We would recommend that you omit this from a must see!

Getting ill on a trip is not something you want to experience. The next ten days we fought not feeling well in the heat wave of New Mexico and while in Durango, Colorado. The Durango Urgent Care center was fantastic. We both got Covid and Shingles at the same time. We slept a lot and unfortunately was not able to explore like we normally do. The good news is that we survived and are back at it!
